Many of you are familiar with the popular Beauty Blender (keep reading for link to awesome dupe). I personally adore these pink little sponges for applying foundation, but what I do not love is cleaning them! I recently picked up the BB Solid Sponge Cleanser from Sephora ($16) and was very happy with the result after cleaning my sponges (it's great for cleaning all of your brushes). Although it's an awesome product, essentially it is just an expensive block of soap. This got me wondering if other bar soaps could clean the product just as well.
I first grabbed my husband's Dial soap. I ran the BB under warm water and then rubbed it over the soap. While product did come off, it didn't compare to the BB Solid Cleanser. I then did a little research on the internet (what did we do before Google?!) and saw where someone suggested Dr. Bronner's Bar Soap ($4). I figured for $4 it was worth giving it a try. I must say I am so glad I did! It cleaned just as well the BB Cleanser for 1/4 of the price...plus I love the smell of lavender!
Below is a picture of the final results. The left BB was cleaned with the BB Solid Cleanser and the right one was with the Dr.Bronner's Bar Soap. Can you tell a difference?
Lastly, I must share with you that last month I found the most amazing BB dupe at Kohls (you may have seen this on my Instagram page). After using for a week, I quickly ordered 5 more of these amazing sponges by Earth Therapeutics. They are EXACTLY the same! You might be able to find them at your local Kohls or you can buy them online here.
